Fitzroy Lodge ABC is a charity run by volunteers and it is supported by subscription and donations. Having been in our current location since 1946, we have built a reputation as a respected amateur boxing club and become an integral presence in the local community.

Fitzroy Lodge offers a friendly environment in which to learn, train and compete in amateur boxing. We encourage, support and inspire boxers of all levels. The Lodge also offers a safe and welcoming space to those who wish to improve fitness while also having fun through boxing training. From beginner to professional, everyone is welcome.

Boxers From The Lodge

Fitzroy Lodge has produced many successful junior and senior amateur boxers. The ABA National Championships have seen 26 junior champions and finalists since 1933. Thirteen male senior champions since 1943, including 3 times ABA champion Neville Cole. We have had 2 female senior ABA champions, and the Lodge also sent the first female boxer to compete internationally, Jacqui-Lee Pryce won in Los Angeles, USA in 1997.

Some Lodge boxers have gone on to compete professionally. Dave Charnley held British, European and Commonwealth lightweight titles; Cornelius Boza Edwards, former WBC super featherweight champion; Ted Bami, former European light welterweight champion and British light welterweight title challenger; and a young David Haye who would later go on to become a world heavyweight champion.
